*Trigger Points are hyper irritable spots in muscle that are associated with palpable nodules [knots] in taut bands of muscle fibers that cause pain. Compression of a trigger point may elicit local tenderness, referred pain, or a local twitch response. The local twitch response is not the same as a muscle spasm. A muscle spasm refers to the entire muscle entirely contracting whereas the local twitch response only involves a localized twitch, no contraction. Unexplained pain frequently radiates from trigger points of local tenderness to broader areas, sometimes distant from the trigger point itself.
*Hot & Cold Stones collected from Land's End on the Baja Peninsula of Mexico are used to deliver warm or cool energy to the body's tissue, depending on the specific need. Warm stones sooth muscle and release tension. Cool stones alleviate pain and reduce inflammation.
*Reflexology is a type of foot massage that requires applying pressure to the feet with specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques. It is based on a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the entire body's organs and systems.
*Myofascial Release is a form of soft tissue therapy used to treat somatic dysfunction, accompanying pain and restriction of motion. This is accomplished by relaxing contracted muscles, increasing venous and lymphatic drainage, and softening fascia.
*Breathwork Shiatsu (指圧) "shi" meaning finger and "atsu" meaning pressure, is an eastern culture born therapy that uses pressure applied with thumbs, fingers and palms to energy meridians in rhythm with breath exhalation to promote overall well being and balanced chi.
*Swedish uses five styles of long, flowing strokes to massage. The five basic strokes are effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber) and vibration/shaking. Swedish massage can reduce pain and joint stiffness as well as improve circulation, reduce stress, and enhance relaxation.
*Lymphatic Drainage requires a light patient touch utilizing directional skin strokes to open lymph valves and allow lymph fluid to flow more freely. This specialty massage is beneficial for certain edemas and sinus conditions. Results to reduce fluid-filled tissue can be immediate. The lymph system is responsible for filtering the body and providing immunity. Muscle movement is required for optimal lymph flow and drainage. Lack of activity, illness or injury can stall the flow of lymph. Lymphatic massage treatments stimulate the flow of lymph.
*Healing Hands & Reiki is a gentle touch healing therapy grounded in prayer and Holy Spirit in which the practitioner's vessel of Light initiates a deep sense of relaxation to encourages the body's natural healing process. Reiki is a form of Healing Hands with Japanese origins.
